Have you ever heard of Roger Sherman? Roger Sherman was part of the Constitutional Convention. He helped draft the articles of confederation and inserted a new provision against states writing paper money. Author of Article 1 Sec. 10. No state shall make anything but gold or silver tender. States couldn’t create a monetary system, only the feds could. Only gold & silver could be used to pay debts. As late as 1971 the USA was still on a gold standard. When President Nixon took us off the gold standard our financial system went into a tailspin, devaluing our dollar 97%.
