Did you know that Francis Bellamy, the author of the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, was a Unitarian Socialist, who had been kicked out of the Baptist church? When he wrote it, it did not include “under God” but was a pledge of supreme allegiance to the State, basically.
His cousin, Edward, wrote a utopian book called “Looking Backward 2000-1887.” Together Francis and Edward Bellamy did much damage to the Christian culture we take for granted, today. Paganism and statism took hold during their day. Let us wake up and study history; doing our best to be loyal to God first before a government that has turned its back on their Creator.
