What is Holy Scripture? All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. Breathed by God. The literal translation says that Scripture is the very breath of God.
2 Timothy chapter 3 is a very important biblical text teaching us how we are to act in perilous times. Some translations use “difficult” times, but perilous is extremely dangerous times.
2 Timothy 3:14-16 are especially vital Scriptures. This text teaches us the absolute authority and inerrancy of Scripture. Sometimes we take it out of context, but it is particularly relevant for us, through perilous times. It’s infallible, authoritative, and sufficient for all our needs as a disciple of Christ.
The primary text is good for:
- Doctrine – What we believe
- Reproof – The rod. God can convict us when we’ve sinned
- Correction– Like the staff, Scripture shows us how to get back into the fold. Correction is restoration of something that has been broken, to become healed. This is helping someone back on his feet once he has fallen.
- Instruction in righteousness – Positive training in godly behavior. Not merely rebuke for bad behavior, but positive instruction as to how to live a righteous life; that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
